How do I get started?

  • Getting started is easy…just click on the 'Get Started' tab above to begin working with United Wire Service! The information found on the 'Get Started' page will help you walk through the process of picking your letter package and lead you to a project start-up form. The start-up form will cover all the details of your mail program including which package you want, postage, size of your mailing, etc.

    Who do I send everything to?

  • If you complete the online start-up form, it will be automatically sent to one of our account executives. If you prefer completing a PDF version of the start-up form, please fax it to one of our account executives at (309) 689-6477. Once they have your start-up form, one of them will call you.

    How do I send my letter copy to you?

  • You can fax your copy to one of our account executives at (309) 689-6477, or send it to them using one of the e-mail addresses listed on the contact page.

    In what format do I send my list/names?

  • We are able to handle a wide variety of file formats. Data files can be provided as text files, either fixed-length or delimited, or as database elements. We can receive files on diskettes, compact disks or ZIP disks. We also support electronic file transfers through FTP and e-mail. See 'Process & Procedures' for additional details.

    Does my list need to meet certain specifications?

  • We will reformat your list before processing it. To do so, we will need a file layout that details all the fields we are to use and the position of each field. See 'Process & Procedures' for additional details.

    How do I send my creative files?

  • Logo and art files can be accepted in a wide variety of industry-standard formats. See 'Process & Procedures' for additional details.

    Do I need to supply artwork for my reply envelope?

  • No, we have windowed business reply and windowed courtesy reply (place stamp here) envelopes in stock. We only need your business reply permit number and return address information to print on your letters. When the addressee refolds your letter and mails it back, your return address will show through the window of the reply envelope.

    At what point in the process do I approve my letter before mailing?

  • A job cost approval sheet will be faxed to you with a sample of your final letter. The job cost approval sheet will confirm your letter package components, postage, mail quantity and the cost of your mailing. You must sign/approve this form and the letter sample and fax it back to us before we print your letters. This process ensures that your requirements are met before we deliver your mail to the USPS.

    Will I receive letter samples after the mailing?

  • Yes, we will send you complimentary samples of your final letter package after it mails.

    Can I be seeded on the letter?

  • Yes, we can do this for you if your list provider did not seed the appropriate names. We need to know the seed name and address information, however, before we reformat your mail file.

    Will I receive postal discounts?

  • United Wire Service uses USPS-approved First Logic mail sortation software in order to obtain the maximum postage discounts available for our clients. First Logic will apply ZIP +4 data if not included on your original input file, correct inaccurate ZIP Codes, and sort the mail by ZIP Code so that the lowest postage rates are achieved. Because these processes are performed by United Wire Service's software, the USPS gives postage discounts that save you money.

    What will I be billed for outside of price per piece?

  • Your account executive will review all charges with you. Generally, there is a letter set-up fee and a fee for any image or logo scans in addition to the per-piece production charge. You will have a chance to confirm all charges when you sign/approve the job cost approval sheet before your letters are printed.

    Are there any hidden fees that will show up on my invoice?

  • No, you will not be surprised by hidden fees.

    What kind of response will I get?

  • Your response rate will depend on the list, offer and copy. Although we can't predict your response rate, we can tell you what other clients have shared with us.
